Nouragues Natural Reserve, French Guiana. Osteocephalus oophagus females go back several times to the Bromeliaceae where they have laid their eggs to lay again ovocytes to feed the tadpoles. This plaque was removed froma patient’s carotid artery during surgery at Christchurch Hospital. The plaque was dissected into 3-5 mm fragments for analysis. Each fragment being photographed during the dissection.

These two one-week old whio ducklings at the base of Sutherland Falls,  Milford Track, were located by radio-tracking the adult female. The photo was taken while hiding in the forest cover on the bank at a distance of approximately 3 m.
