BSc Honours Proposal
- Candidates must submit a research project proposal (Word 50KB) before starting any research.
- Consult your supervisor prior to submitting the proposal.
- Proposal will be reviewed by the Fourth Year Supervisor, it will be returned to the candidate if revisions are required.
- Deadline: Printed copy to the Supervisor by the end of week three, semester one.
MSc
Thesis Statement
- This is the first stage in developing a full thesis proposal.
- Masters Thesis Statement Form (Word 40KB)
- If you have not developed a tentative title indicate your area of interest and who you have talked to.
- Submit a printed copy to the chair of the Postgraduate Studies Committee.
Approval of Registration
- This form is to accompany the candidate's Research Proposal.
- Masters Registration Form (Word 80KB)
- Deadline: The University has a strict requirement: Submission of this application; if full-time, within two months of enrolment for the MSc thesis work; if part-time or if full-time and concurrently enrolled in thesis and course work, within four months.
Research Proposal
- All candidates must submit a Research Proposal to the Chair of Biological Sciences Postgraduate Studies before commencing any research.

- Proposal will be reviewed by the Postgraduate Studies Committee, it will be returned to the candidate if revisions are required.
Progress Report
- Complete the MSc Progress Report (Word 80KB)
- Discuss with your Supervisor(s)
- Submit to the Chair of the Biological Sciences Postgraduate Studies Committee
- The Committee will ensure that it meets the requirements, then pass it to the Head of School for comments and signature.
- Deadline: Progress reports are due on the first Monday in April and October each year, following enrolment in MSc part II.
Application for Suspension of Enrolment
- Complete the form Application to Suspend Enrolment in MSc II (PDF 30KB)
- Discuss with your Supervisor(s)
- Submit to the Chair of the Biological Sciences Postgraduate Studies Committee
- The Committee will ensure that it meets the requirements, then pass it to the College of Science.
PhD
How to apply for enrolment as a PhD candidate in the School of Biological Sciences
- Contact the School.
- If you have international entrance qualifications contact the International Office.
- Once School approval is granted, submit a PhD Application Form (Word 100KB).
- On completion of the application process you will be sent an enrolment offer and Statement of Fees.
- You must accept this offer and pay the fees to be enrolled.
- PhD students must re-enrol each year.
