Research
Genetics and molecular biology of prokaryotic and eukaryotic microorganisms; horizontal gene transfer, particularly conjugation; effects of stress, particularly induced by antibiotics; evolution and risk assessment; influence of language on science, eugenics.
Research Interests
1) Biochemical and genetic characterization of horizontal
gene transfer, particularly as it relates to:
a) The evolution of virulence and antibiotic resistance in microbes;
b) Risks of genetically modified/engineered organisms.
2) General yeast, bacteria and bacteriophage genetics.
